Gepco Introduces LSK Ultra-low Skew UTP Cables
at InfoComm

Cable Provides Superior Video Transmission Over
Long Distances

DES PLAINES, IL, June 22, 2006—Gepco introudced the LSK series of ultra-low skew UTP cables at InfoComm 2006 (Booth #3659). This cable series is designed for the transmission of component analog video in a twisted-pair format without hardware delay compensation. The LSK was recently tested and recommended by Magenta Research for use with Magenta's MultiViewTM Series receivers.

Different than category-grade networking cables, the LSK has a consistent pair lay with a maximum time delay differential of 2 nanoseconds (per 100m) between any two pairs. This minimized pair skew (or delay) allows for red, green, and blue video components to remain in sync, ensuring optimal picture quality and reliable video distribution.

Magenta Research, a leader in the adaptive distribution of video/audio/control signals over Cat5 cable, tested the performance of Gepco's LSK with its own MultiView UTx Universal Transmitter and the MultiView AK1500-SA DP receiver. These transceiver pairs concurrently transmit the combination of high-resolution computer video, duplex serial and stereo audio signals. As a result of its tests, Magenta found that the LSK provided a strong, consistent video signal - especially over long distances.

"For signal distribution distances to 1,500 feet, Gepco's LSK cable offers superior transmission without the use of additional hardware," comments Keith Mortensen, CEO of Magenta Research. "In fact, MultiView users do not need to install the AkuComp skew compensation module for the AK1500 and AK1000 receivers if they use the LSK in their set-up. The LSK is designed with minimal video skew characteristics on its own. Overall, Gepco's LSK is a cost-effective solution for commercial AV and digital signage applications."

Each pair within the LSK series cable is constructed from 23 gage solid copper and a precision 100 Ohm, data-grade PVC or plenum TPE dielectric. UL rated, the LSK series is available in both Riser and Plenum versions for installation in almost any environment.
