Gepco Improves & Expands High-Definition
Series of Digital Video Coax Cables
CHICAGO, April 13, 2001 - Gepco® International introduces its improved and expanded series of High-Definition digital video coaxial cables. The new High-Definition series has been developed and re-engineered to address the demands for HDTV transmission, a higher UL riser rating, flexibility, an enhanced physical appearance and ease of termination.
In addition to the re-engineered VPM2000 and VSD2001, Gepco's High Definition series has been expanded to include VHD1100 (RG11), VHD7000 (RG7) and VDM230 (miniature) type coaxes. All feature a guaranteed 3 GHz bandwidth for HDTV interconnect, a new gas-injected foam polyethylene dielectric, lower attenuation, excellent crush resistance and a more flexible and riser rated (CMR) jacket.
At the core of these improvements are Gepco's new gas injected dielectric and manufacturing process control. The new gas-injected polyethylene dielectric has a faster velocity of propagation (82% to 84%), tight tolerance 75-ohm impedance and low attenuation and structural return loss across the entire 3 GHz bandwidth. These improvements result in a cable that can transmit high-speed video data more accurately and reliably, even at great distances. All these electrical improvements are accomplished while maintaining superior crush resistance. In fact, Gepco's proprietary process and compounds create a cable that is even more crush-resistant than other brands or previous types.
The conductive elements of Gepco's new High Definition series of video coax consist of a precision-drawn solid copper center conductor, and a 95% tinned copper braid with 100% foil shield for complete broadband shielding. The shield is designed to be easily terminated, with a more reliable connection due to the tight-angle braid weave and special non-bonded, fully conductive foil.
