Gepco Expands Fiber Optic Production Capabilities

DES PLAINES, IL, January 23, 2007— As the High Definition revolution increases the need for SMPTE hybrid fiber cables, Gepco International, an industry leader in the manufacturing of professional audio and video cables, is expanding its fiber optic production capabilities. No longer are HD cameras and interconnects used solely by major national networks; smaller stations, video productions facilities, and live venues are all making the switch to HD cameras and interconnects.

As Gepco's Products Development Manager Scott Fehl explains, Gepco will continue to meet the growing demands of the broadcast industry. "With more and more studio and on-location productions being filmed in HD, Gepco recognized the need to increase our production capabilities. The expansion includes the latest in fiber optic contact polishing that exceeds previous methods and the SMPTE standard. Combined with additional test and measurement, personnel, and customized cable management techniques, we have significantly increased our assembly throughput."

Gepco's complete hybrid fiber line includes cable assemblies terminated with Lemo™ or Canare™ connectors, distribution rack systems, bulk cable and connectors, and breakout cable assembly solutions. In addition, Gepco offers a unique cable repair service for the repair and maintenance of existing fiber optic cables.

Gepco® International, with headquarters in Des Plaines, IL, and a branch location in Burbank, CA, has been a leading provider of studio and broadcast audio and video cables for 25 years. The company also specializes in manufacturing custom cable assemblies, panels, patch bay harnesses and breakout boxes. In addition, Gepco stocks and distributes connectors, patchbays and other cable-related products. For more information about Gepco, visit our Company Profile.
